The President of Tanzania John Magafuli, has died on Wednesday, at 61-year after weeks of illness.
President Magufuli was first elected in office in 2015, and was recently re-elected to serve a second and final term in office.
Samia Suluhu Hassan, Vice President of Tanzania in a televised address to the nation on Wednesday, said the 61-year-old president had died of a “heart condition”, which he had suffered for a decade, at a hospital in Dar-Es-Salaam.
Meanwhile, the death of John Magafuli is a great loss not only to the people of Tanzania but the entire African Continent at large. He will be probably most remembered for his strong policies against corruption and development infrastructure.
